This course is for everyone with or without a current HLTAID011 certificate. All are encouraged to attend.
This course applies to a wide range of settings where first aid emergencies may occur. It is especially relevant for people working in aged and community care, sport, outdoor recreation, travel and tourism, hospitality, industry enterprises as well as in the home or other environments.
It is mandatory to have a USI Number to attend this course
CERTIFICATES are issued by Rich River First Aid & sent to your personal Rich River First Aid Student Portal 3 - 8 days after completion of the course (they do not email them) They are valid for 3 years.
COURSE CONTENT
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of
casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
Topics include:
+ Assessing an emergency situation
+ Airway and breathing management
+ Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques
+ Automated External Defibrillation
+ First Aid management of the unconscious casualty
+ Medical conditions including cardiac, diabetes & epilepsy
+ Infection control and First Aid for minor wounds
+ Allergic reactions and asthma
+ Control of major external bleeding and shock
+ Management of near drowning
+ Hyperthermia and hypothermia
+ Burns and electric shock
+ Eye and soft tissue injuries
+ Venomous bites and stings
+ Fractures and spinal injuries
+ Head, chest and abdominal injuries
+ Assessment of the sick and injured
+ Communicating details of an incident
+ Debriefing and evaluation of response to critical incidents
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no prerequisite units
USI Number
Participants will receive an email containing the online registration & pre-course requirements prior to the course date, this must be completed before your course
Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing first aid
Participants will also need oral communication skills to make an accurate verbal report to emergency services and workplace supervisor

Up Tempo Cafe is open on weekdays, food can be purchased from the Cafe Mon - Fri
Up Tempo Cafe is currently not open on weekends, please supply your own food/snacks on weekends. You can pop out during the lunch break to purchase food also.
