This course applies to a wide range of settings where first aid emergencies may occurring the childcare and school settings . This course covers high risk areas such as ASTHMA and Anaphylaxis. The Australian Childrens Education and care Authority ( ACECQA) has endorsed this course as meeting their requirements.

  • CERTIFICATES are issued by Rich River First Aid & sent to your personal Rich River First Aid Student Portal 3 - 8 days after completion of the course (they do not email them)

  • Cancelation Policy if you cancel within 24hours of your practical course we will not issue a refund. If you reschedule more then twice we will charge full price again for the course.

  • Kneeling for 2 minutes on the floor to perform CPR is a mandated requirement. If you can not do this please do not book your course as you will not pass.

COURSE CONTENT

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of

casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This course covers Specific first aid in many high risk areas specialising in the area of children

Topics include:

+ Assessing an emergency situation

+ Airway and breathing management including choking

+ Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques ( Adult, child and Infant)

+ Automated External Defibrillation

+ First Aid management of the unconscious casualty

+ Medical conditions including cardiac, diabetes & epilepsy

+ Infection control and First Aid for minor wounds

+ Allergic reactions and asthma

+ Control of major external bleeding and shock

+ Management of near drowning

+ Hyperthermia and hypothermia

+ Burns and electric shock

+ Eye and soft tissue injuries

+ Venomous bites and stings

+ Fractures and spinal injuries

+ Head, chest and abdominal injuries

+ Assessment of the sick and injured

+ Communicating details of an incident

+ Debriefing and evaluation of response to critical incidents

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no prerequisite units.

It is mandatory to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI Number) to attend this course

This course welcomes participants with or without a current certificate - all are encouraged to attend

Participants will receive an email containing the online pre-course requirements prior to the course date, this must be completed before your course

Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing first aid including kneeling on the floor for the 2 minutes of CPR

Participants will also need oral communication skills to make an accurate verbal report to emergency services and workplace supervisor.
